John Fred Holm passed away unexpectedly on March 2, 2015. He was painting a floor in preparation for a new quilting machine as a surprise for his beloved wife when died of a heart attack. John was born June 6, 1949 in Milford, UT to Kathlyn O’Leary Holm and James Victor Holm (deceased). He was the second of four rambunctious boys. The family later moved to Salt Lake City, where John attended East High School, and graduated in 1967. He later attended the University of Utah. John married his best friend Margie Lynne Hendriksen on January 25, 1980 in the Salt Lake Temple. He often called Margie either “Sweetheart” or simply “Hey, good-lookin’!” Together they had one daughter, Elizabeth ‘Betsy’ Lynn Holm of whom he was protective, proud and who he loved deeply. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. John enjoyed serving in the scouts, teaching the high priests group, and he loved researching genealogy and doing indexing. Arvin Ronald Prows (Ronald) was born December 10, 1935 in a log cabin in Altonah, Utah, to Morrell Doyle and Matilda (Cooper) Prows. He was the youngest of three children (brother, Evan Doyle Prows and Sister, Bertie Faye (Prows) Vincent, both deceased). He grew up in Utah and Montana in depression era times - the perfect background for his adventure filled youth. He was a wonderful story teller. Although quiet and not inclined to be the center of attention, once you “got him going” he could entertain by recounting stories of his early years - digging holes in his father’s garage, trapping skunks or being chased by non-existent (or not) bears. Ronald graduated from Spanish Fork High School in 1954. He married his eternal companion and sweetheart, Amanda Swasey, in the Salt Lake Temple on September 28, 1956. They had five children: Son, Stephen Ronald (Catherine White) Prows, Daughters, Joyce Kay (Russell) Christensen, Karen (Steven) McCurdy, Diana Marie (Brent) Ware and Pattie Jean (Jeffery) Matheson. He graduated from the BYU in 1959 with a teaching degree and taught science in Mt. View and Sheridan, Wyoming. He received a Master’s degree from the University of Wyoming. In 1967 he moved his family to Grantsville Utah, where he taught at Grantsville High School. As a teacher, Ronald influenced many people. He was good with teenagers and young adults. His own children attended various biology, chemistry and life science classes taught by Mr. Prows and attest that he was not an easy “A”. He retired from teaching in 1994 after spending 35 years in the classroom. Ronald and Amanda were true companions building a home, family and life together. From 2001-2002 they served together as missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Lancing Michigan mission. After their mission they served nine years together in the Salt Lake Temple. Ronald is survived by his wife and children, 29 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren and sister-in-law, Rosella Prows. He was husband, father, grandfather, teacher, example and friend. Dad, you were loved and wanted. Thank you for your service to your family, from science fair projects to rebuilding engines to patiently explaining math problems. Thank you for attending almost every major event of your children’s, grandchildren’s (and some great grandchildren’s) lives and for hosting (with Mom), two parties a year for your descendants for the past several years. Thank you for giving advice only when it was asked for. We love you. We know you were prepared for death. There are no regrets. We believe we will see you again AND we are so sad that you are gone. Funeral services will be held in the LDS 4th Ward building, 428 South Hale, Grantsville Utah. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where she served in positions in every organization. She enjoyed the outdoors and loved camping when she could still sleep on the ground. One of her favorite vacations was the trip to Yellowstone Park. She was able to stay home and raise her three children which has been a blessing in her life as well as theirs. She moved to Rush Valley in 1995 and enjoyed the more relaxed lifestyle of the country, but after 9 years, the weeds, dust and heating with coal took its toll on her lungs and her Dr’s advised her to move to the city. Everywhere she went she always made friends easily and brightened the room with laughter whenever she walked in, but when she moved into the Tooele 6th ward in 2004 she developed an immediate bond with her new BFF. In 2007 she was diagnosed with breast cancer and after surgery, Chemotherapy and radiation felt that she had won the battle. When it returned in 2013 it hit with a vengeance. Each treatment took its toll on her body. She received transfusions and IV’s for dehydration, and many times had to be supported as she staggered to her treatments but even through all this she remained positive and lifted many through laughter. After two rounds of chemo her kidneys started to fail beginning the summer of 2014. Throughout her final struggles she remained positive and lifted many through laughter. She is survived by her husband Dale Huffaker, Mother Marylyn Mott, children: Stefanie (Michael) Moore, Jarod (Melissa) Huffaker and Heidi (Casey) Fuger as well as six grandchildren, a brother, Brent Egbert, and sisters, Carolyn (Dennis) Carty, RuthAnn (John) Putnam, Julie (Tom) Carrillo, and Meleta Egbert. Heaven got a little brighter today –as our Beautiful Angel left this world. We lost the beauty of her smile, the warmth of her friendship, the sound of her laughter, the artistry of her hairstyles and the beautiful fragrance of her flower gardens. Her beautiful voice has now joined heaven’s choir. She has always been a friend to the friendless, a listening ear to the discouraged and down hearted. No one loved little children and babies more than Sherry. To those who didn’t know Sherry before her disease, you missed one of earth’s greatest ladies! She was a beautiful wife, a devoted mother and a dedicated sister and friend. Yes, Heaven got a little brighter while our world grieves her loss. Sharon Colleen Gundersen Larsen was born September 9, 1943 to Grant and Marjie Gundersen. Sherry grew up in Holladay, Utah graduating from Olympus High School. While she was attending Continental Beauty College she met the love of her life, Earl, at a church dance. They were married on September 14, 1962 in the Manti Temple. They moved to Grantsville in 1964 and have lived there ever since. Sherry worked out of her home as a beautician for many years, making many lifetime friends. Sherry loved music. She sang with her sisters on many programs, including many Old Folks Sociable’s and funerals. She also loved to play the accordion. Sherry was a woman of great faith. She was very active in the LDS church serving in many ward and stake positions. After Earl retired, they served a mission in the West Indies where they were able to serve the young missionaries and the special people of Guyana. Sherry was preceded in death by her mother, Marjie Calvert Gundersen. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Earl Larsen, her children Becky (Robert), Julie (Steve), Connie (Doug), Gary (Tiffany), Michael (Gina), Michelle (Justin), John (Brooke) ,Laurie (Cody) her 32 grandchildren and four great grandchildren– the joy of her life!
